Who we are:
Laing O’Rourke

Website

A globally diverse engineering and construction group headquartered in Dartford, UK, Laing O’Rourke has extensive world-wide experience in the rail industry and is currently involved in major projects in the UK, Canada, Middle East, Australia and Hong Kong.

In the UK, Laing O’Rourke is working on the country’s largest commuter rail projects for Network Rail, Transport for London, Crossrail and Manchester Metrolink. Part of the UK’s first ‘pure construction alliance’ for rail, Laing O’Rourke is working on the first phase of Network Rail’s £250m programme to improve performance and capacity on the Stafford section of the UK’s West Coast Main Line. Elsewhere, it is undertaking a programme of intensive construction on major stations for Crossrail, including Tottenham Court Road, Liverpool Street and Custom House, and continues with the expansion of Greater Manchester’s Metrolink network as part of the MPT Consortium. In London, the company has begun work on the Northern Line Extension. Activity for both Crossrail and Manchester Metrolink has seen the extensive use of Laing O’Rourke’s Design for Manufacture and Assembly (DfMA) expertise, providing both cost and time efficiencies.

Internationally, Laing O’Rourke has recently completed rail electrification projects in Auckland in New Zealand and Adelaide in Australia, and continues to work with Transport for NSW and Sydney Trains. In Hong Kong, the group has been working for MTR Corporation Ltd on three urban rail projects, two at West Kowloon and one at Admiralty, forming a dramatic expansion of the MTR network. Admiralty involves building new rail tunnels and platforms below and adjacent to the existing Admiralty Station, as well as adding a major below-ground interchange concourse.
