Construction consultancy Walker Sim has been appointed to deliver Project Cost and Commercial Management services as a part of the £88 million Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM) consultancy framework.
With over 5.6 million journeys across Greater Manchester’s transport network made each day, TfGM has created a new consultancy framework to help deliver ‘world class connections which support long-term sustainable economic growth and access to opportunity for all.’, with Manchester-based Walker Sim being one of the companies to help deliver this new transport vision throughout the city region.
Bucking the trend towards big-name multinationals, Walker Sime is flying the flag for SMEs, a fact not lost on Mark Bond, Director, Quantity Surveying Infrastructure (QSI).
Mr Bond said: “We are thrilled to be appointed to the TfGM framework, an achievement which feels even greater because, as the only SME appointed in our lot, we really are operating in a field of our own. We were pleased with the quality of the submission we were able to present, but ultimately, I believe it was the experience of our people and their passion for the project that proved the crucial difference.
“As a local business, we are enormously proud to be able to make a difference to the long-term sustainable economic growth of Manchester.”
Walker Sime is the only SME to be awarded a place on the framework.
