Kier wins £400m local authority job
Heather Church - December 16, 2014

Contractor Kier has been named as preferred bidder to deliver a £400m property development programme in Staffordshire.

The firm will work in joint venture with Staffordshire council and the local police and crime commissioner to deliver a ten-year programme across the local public sector estate.

The two authorities, which will appoint Kier, are seeking to maximise the performance of their estates, build new facilities and optimise their efficiency.

Kier will provide a wide range of services including development, disposal, acquisition, construction, asset management and facilities management.

The contractor has also won a £200m, four-year extension of its existing highways service role with Northampton council where it will work with consultant WSP.

Haydn Mursell, chief executive of Kier, said the wins “demonstrate the breadth of offering the group can provide through long-term strategic partnerships”.

He added: “We look forward to working with our partners to deliver more integrated and effective services, whilst also helping them to drive additional cost savings.”
