Inaugural SWIP Supply Chain Briefing is Huge Success
Heather Church - September 30, 2014

Over 400 suppliers attended the SWIP Supply Chain Briefing 2014, at the Emirates Stadium in London last week.

CompeteFor, the National Supply Chain Portal, worked with Station Works and Improvements Programme, an internal contractor of Transport for London and London Underground, to put together the inaugural event.

Delegates had the chance to hear about upcoming SWIP projects that they can get involved in, as well as gaining insight from existing SWIP suppliers through the case study sessions. They also heard from CompeteFor and how they can utilise the free service to access contract opportunities from all over the UK.

SWIP is an internal delivery team for London Underground. It was originally established to deliver a fixed scope stations improvement programme. Today the SWIP team have the capability to deliver large rail infrastructure projects across London. Currently the programme consists of over 140 staff, with an annual turnover of £100m. Due to the nature of the work they carry out, they frequently require additional commercial resources and are therefore looking to engage suppliers that provide the goods and services they require.

CompeteFor has a proven track record of delivering successful supply chain briefing events, which gives buying organisations the chance to inform new and existing suppliers of upcoming projects and how they can get involved. SWIP were delighted to have engaged many new local and SME businesses that they look forward to working with in the future. CompeteFor is also delighted to announce SWIP as official partners of CompeteFor. For more information on their procurement processes, visit www.competefor.com/swip.
