HS2 to use CompeteFor to publicise indirect spend
Heather Church - October 30, 2014

CompeteFor was delighted to exhibit at the High Speed 2 (HS2) Supply Chain Conference events in Manchester and London this month.

The event offered a fantastic opportunity for businesses to hear about what HS2 is looking for from its suppliers and how to access its supply chain opportunities. The events also offered plenty of exhibition and networking sessions, giving suppliers a chance to network with each other and the HS2 team. Both events had a fantastic turnout with 800 suppliers attending the one in Manchester while the London conference was at full capacity.

In the run-up to the events, Simon Kirby, Chief Executive of High Speed 2, commented:

“The pace of HS2’s development is accelerating so we’re ready to hit the ground running, assuming Royal Assent in 2016. It is excellent to see such massive support and interest from industry in making HS2 a reality and this is a great opportunity for us to meet companies from across the country.”

As part of its commitment to engaging SMEs, HS2 will use CompeteFor to promote its indirect spend, with tier one organisations using the service to publish their supply chain opportunities. CompeteFor is the supply chain portal used for the London 2012 Olympics and other large infrastructure projects, including Crossrail and Thames Tideway Tunnel. It promotes open and sustainable supply chains and allows flow down of opportunities to reach smaller businesses.
