£400,000 refurbishment for Londonderry School
Dean White - July 1, 2015

Social Development Minister, Mervyn Storey MLA, has announced the completion of a £400,000 refurbishment for St Brigid’s Parish Centre in Londonderry.

St Brigid’s Parish Centre is owned and used by the Resource Centre Derry (RCD) which provides a wide range of services including Sure Start, meals on wheels, counselling, therapy services, and a service for the care of older people.

The Department’s funding has enabled the organisation to renovate and upgrade their facilities making it fit for purpose.

The overall cost of the scheme was £399,672, of which the Department for Social Development contributed £362,500, with the Resource Centre Derry funding the remaining balance.

Minister Storey said: “Resource Centre Derry delivers a vital service to the people of the Carnhill and further afield. This investment by my Department has enabled RCD to not only upgrade their premises, but also to offer community space within the Centre for use by a number of other community groups in the area.”

Mary Bradley, Chairperson of Resource Centre Derry, said: “We are delighted with the completion of St Brigid’s Parish Centre which will allow the residents to enjoy the services the newly refurbished Centre will be able to offer. This facility is much needed and will meet the needs of many residents living in the Outer North Neighbourhood Renewal area.”
