As the Secretary of State outlined to Parliament\u202fon 20<\/span><\/i><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">th<\/span><\/i><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u202fJanuary\u202f2025, our mission to transform healthcare infrastructure for the future of the NHS remains a priority, as we shift to deliver\u202fthis new credible plan.<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201c2025 is off to a fantastic start and we\u2019ve reached several major milestones: the Programme Business Case for 2025 has been approved, the Programme Delivery Partner has been appointed, and the supplier qualification process has been successfully completed.\u00a0\u00a0 Each of these steps has built real momentum for the year ahead and NHP is on track to award places on the Hospital 2.0 Alliance by the end of the year\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Programme Leadership Statements\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Morag Stuart, Chief Programme Officer at the New Hospital Programme, said:\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThis announcement marks another significant step forward in transforming how hospital infrastructure is delivered across the UK.\u00a0 Our standardised Hospital 2.0 approach will redefine how we build and operate hospitals \u2013 enabling schemes to be delivered faster, more safely and with embedded digital capabilities.<\/span><\/i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201c<\/span><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">NHP is progressing at pace and clearly demonstrates the Government\u2019s commitment to transforming healthcare infrastructure.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 This work will create thousands of jobs and apprenticeships &#8211; supporting UK economic growth whilst building the enduring supply chain capability needed for future delivery.\u201d<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Rick Lennard, Executive Commercial Director at the New Hospital Programme, said:\u00a0<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cIt\u2019s fantastic to see such a strong shortlist of both established and new market entrants, including both UK and international organisations.\u00a0\u00a0 Through a collaborative allocation process, NHS Trusts will use the delivery alliance to appoint suppliers to work with them to deliver new hospitals across the country, that bring NHP\u2019s vision to life.\u00a0<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cThe Hospital 2.0 Alliance is a true partnership between NHS England, trusts and our supply chain partners, underpinned by the Hospital 2.0 Alliance Agreement that defines how we\u2019ll work together efficiently and maximise social value.<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cLooking ahead, we\u2019re encouraging suppliers of all sizes to start preparing now. Thousands of contract opportunities will be created across the UK.\u00a0 This is a nationally important programme, and we welcome innovative partners who can help us deliver it.\u201d<\/span><\/i><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Background<\/span><\/b><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">In January 2025 the Rt Hon Wes Streeting MP, Secretary of State for Health and Social Care, launched the NHP Plan for Implementation. This confirmed that the programme would be backed by up to \u00a315b of investment for each five-year spending period, averaging \u00a33b a year by 2030.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">The plan confirmed that 16 schemes would start construction between 2025 and 2030, including seven sites constructed primarily with reinforced autoclaved aerated concrete (RAAC) which were already proceeding at pace due to the substantive safety risks to staff and patients.
