UPDATE OCTOBER 2023
At the Conservative Party Conference on the 4th October 2023 the Government confirmed that HS2 Phase 1 would be built from Birmingham to a new London terminus at Euston Station.
The new Euston Station will be reduced in scope compared to the original designs.
Once complete, HS2 will increase the number of number of seats out of Euston Station during peak hours, reduce travel times and free up space on the west coast mainline for more local and long distance commuter services to places like Watford, Northampton and Milton Keynes.
HS2 will transform Euston station. The redevelopment will create the opportunity for new jobs and up to 10,000 homes as part of a wider masterplan.
We will construct at least six new 400m long platforms, a new concourse and improved connections to Euston Underground station, along with a host of other important features. At present we are continuing to deliver the enabling works, but following with the Government announcement above there is no confirmed date for when the main construction works will recommence.
