Construction of the line is well underway, with 30,000 jobs supported by the project and over 3,200 UK-based businesses helping to build it.<\/p>\n<p><strong>There are three main benefits of HS2:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><u>Connectivity<\/u><em> \u2013\u00a0<\/em>better transport links between our cities and regions is bringing more investment to the Midlands and North, helping to level up the country.<\/li>\n<li><u>Capacity<\/u><em> \u2013\u00a0<\/em>taking inter-city trains off the existing rail network will free up more space for commuter and freight services, helping to relieve overcrowding and take lorries off the road.<\/li>\n<li><u>Carbon<\/u><em> \u2013\u00a0<\/em>HS2 will be the zero carbon alternative for long distance travel, helping tackle climate change by reducing
