The East West Rail Alliance (EWRA) is responsible for the delivery of phase 2 of the East West Rail project – a major £1bn rail programme and one of the most prestigious projects in the UK infrastructure pipeline. East West Rail Phase 2 will re-establish a rail link between Cambridge and Oxford to improve connections between East Anglia and central, southern and western England.
A Transport Works Act Order for phase 2 of the project was submitted in July 2018 and – subject to approval – will see major works begin in late 2019. In preparation of an order being granted, the EWRA have been instructed to carry out a programme of enabling works in 2019.
The EWRA is a ‘pure’ Alliance consisting of Atkins SNC Lavalin, Laing O’Rourke, Network Rail and Volker Rail.
The EWRA is committed to supporting and developing the local and SME supply chain both directly and indirectly across various sectors and furthermore delivering long term social and economic benefits to the communities that line the route of the project.
As an Alliance, it is important that our supply chain is fully aligned with our charter, and in particular our supply chain will need to be open to working in a collaborative working environment and focused on providing innovative solutions.Find out more
