Morgan Sindall secures £7m primary school contract
Heather Church - April 29, 2014

Morgan Sindall has been appointed by hub West Scotland to build the new £7.7m Lairdsland Primary School in Kirkintilloch, East Dunbartonshire.

The modern two-storey building will run alongside the Forth & Clyde Canal in Strathkelvin Place, and will include a large school hall with a separate dining area which will double up as an activity and music area for the children. An interesting feature of this space will be its ability to be transformed into an outside covered dining area by opening the external elevation onto the adjacent canal.

Each classroom will have the flexibility to incorporate formal, project based, specialist and outdoor learning for the children.

Eddie Carr, Area Director at Morgan Sindall, said: “The surroundings in which children receive their education can have a huge impact on their achievements, and we feel this new building will inspire the children of Lairdsland Primary School.

“We have delivered a large number of projects in the education sector and aim to make Lairdsland Primary School the best in the region.”

The primary school, which will accommodate 280 pupils in its 11 multi-functional classrooms, is due to complete in summer 2015.
